Last-Minute Holiday Gift Guide

By Alyssa Laffitte on December 23, 2018

With the craziness of finals week and travels back home, it can be hard to find the time to shop for holiday gifts. Still, there are some last minute gifts you can get for your friends and family that they will greatly appreciate. Here are some fun, last-minute gift ideas!

Essential oil diffuser

Many people love essential oils due to their numerous health benefits. Diffusing certain essential oils can be especially beneficial to your health. You can even find essential oil diffusers that double as humidifiers that can help a lot in the wintertime when the air is dry. If you have a friend that is into essential oils (or that is just starting to get into them), consider getting them an oil diffuser. Of course, do your research before buying any essential oils, just to ensure you buy the right ones and from a reputable company.

Bluetooth wireless headphones

I recently received Bluetooth wireless headphones as a gift, and they were life changing. They are especially convenient if your phone does not have a headphone jack. Wireless headphones allow the wearer to move around without being restricted by a headphone cable. (Personally, my job requires me to walk around a lot, so I love being able to freely walk around and listen to music without worrying about my headphone cable.) The wearer will also not have to deal with the cables tangling anymore! They are also compatible with devices most people use every day, like a phone, tablet, or computer. Of course, their sound quality is great, too. In other words, Bluetooth wireless headphones are extremely convenient, and your tech-savvy friend would be glad to receive them as a gift.

External phone battery pack

Continuing with the tech theme, an external phone battery pack is another great gift to give this holiday season. We all know that phone batteries have a tendency to die very quickly, so we charge our phones whenever an outlet is nearby. But if you have an external phone charger, you don’t need to worry about finding an outlet to keep your phone from dying, because it will charge your phone for you. These are especially helpful when you travel or attend long events (like conferences or concerts). After all, you need your phone to be alive by the end of the day so you can post pictures of all the fun things you did! Nobody wants their phone to die on them, so an external phone battery pack would be a perfect gift for anyone in your life.

Insulated travel tumbler

If you have a friend who is constantly on the go, you should get them an insulated travel tumbler. It will help them stay hydrated, since they can carry water with them (and the water will actually stay cold!). Or, if your friend prefers coffee, they can bring coffee with them with the assurance that it will stay hot for quite some time. This is especially useful for a busy college student, since we students are always on the go (and we could always use some more water). An insulated travel tumbler will be a great gift for your friend who is on the go.

Homesick candle

Personally, as someone who is going to school far from home, I would love a “homesick” candle of my home state. “Homesick” is a company that sells candles with scents inspired by all the different states. For example, I am from Florida, so I would get the Florida inspired candle, which has a citrus, tropical scent (we don’t get a lot of that in my new state!). If you know someone who is going to school outside of their home state, you can buy them a homesick candle inspired by their home state! It will be a nice, comforting reminder of home for them.

Scratch-off US map

If you have a friend who loves to travel, you can get them a scratch-off US map. This special map will allow them to scratch off the states that they have already visited, which will reveal a cool design! This is an artistic, unique way to document where they have been, and to encourage them to continue traveling so they can scratch off the entire map. If you know any frequent international travelers, you can get them the same type of map, but of the world rather than just the US. A scratch-off map would be a fun gift for avid travelers to document their trips.

Stick-on card holder

As college students, we need to have quick and easy access to our ID and credit cards. For that reason, many students use stick-on card holders behind their phones. A stick-on card holder is a convenient gift for any college student!

Any of these gifts are easy to find, even if you are short on time. You can’t go wrong with these gifts because they are very useful. Enjoy your shopping, and have a happy and safe holiday season!
