Spring is here, ladies! Freshen up your look!

By Alisa Hrustic on March 15, 2014

The snow is melting, the sun is shining, and you can finally get rid of all the boots and sweatshirts that have been weighing down your laundry… and your look. Spring is a time to play with color, mix and match, and reinvent your style. Not only will your wardrobe match the weather, but so will your mood. Here are a few spring time tips, ideas, and essentials to keep in mind while transitioning into the season.

Look #1: “I’m on my way to class and have no time to get ready.”

No time? No problem! This outfit can be thrown together in seconds. Let the colors of your wardrobe resemble your surroundings and play up some color! These cuffed boyfriend jeans from Old Navy are comfy enough to wear to class and will show off these bright orange flats from GAP. No time to do your hair? Utilize a printed headband; it will look like you put more time in than you did! Pair it with a fun graphic tank and loose boyfriend cardigan and you are looking and feeling spring time fresh.

Look #2: “I want to look nice, but not like I’m trying too hard.”

The eternal dilemma: you have a nice lunch date or something of that sort and want to look adorable but not like you’re trying too hard. Simple enough! A pretty printed dress and denim jacket will look put together, but effortless. Throw on a colorful pair of flats and studded earrings to pull the look together. Don’t forget your shades for those sunny days!

Look #3: “I’m not a regular professional, I’m a cool professional.”

For those of you struggling to put together a fresh professional look, then search no further! These straight-leg ankle pants will feel less stuffy than your typical trouser. A cute printed blouse paired with a bright blazer will catch eyes and force away any remaining winter blues. Find a cute jewel toned earring and fun nail color to complete the look. Keep your bag and shoes neutral to keep the look professional.

Beauty Essentials: Maintaining a fresh look

Invest in a new lip color! Find a pop of pink that complements your skin tone!

A white eye liner can be applied to the inner corner of your eye and underneath the brow to keep the eyes looking awake.

Wind and warmer weather = hair disaster. Keep the locks in place with hairspray. Garnier Fructis has great anti-humidity sprays.

A BB Cream with an SPF will protect and moisturize the skin, while giving  you a little extra coverage.

Blush is a must! Keep your cheeks looking flushed and rosy. NARS blush can be pricey, but there are tons of drug store blushes with similar shades at a lower price.

Aloe Vera may normally be a summer time necessity, but it also makes for a great moisturizer any time of year. Your skin won’t be as dry in the spring, and aloe doesn’t get oily!

Speaking of which, sunnier days call for oilier skin. These oil absorbing sheets are a life-saver.

Go for a neutral eye shadow palette to accentuate a natural look.

Have fun with your nails. Essie has tons of awesome pastel shades.

It’s your turn! Spring is a time to have fun with your wardrobe. Add some color and enjoy the sunshine!
