Super hyper and enthusiastic about the class. Very lenient and understanding about late assignments, willing to give extensions on papers.

Mississippi State is lucky to have Megan Foley. She is by far the best professor I've had here. She is brilliant to say the least, and she makes class so much fun it's almost ridiculous. I've skipped a good bit because I didn't realize attendance mattered at all. And then I read the syllabus. Lesson learned. I am really mad that I've skipped so much in the first place, because she's that awesome. Take her please...you will love her classes, love her, and learn a whole lot.

I loved Dr. Foley! She is excited about the material and shows her expertise in the subject matter. She is very entertaining to watch so it keeps you engaged in the class. She is very encouraging and she grades fairly. She is by far my favorite teacher on campus.

Dr. Foley is a very enthusiastic teacher. She knows how to make even the most boring topics more interesting. She gives really good examples through youtube videos to demonstrate abstract ideas. If you do your rhetorical exercises each week, then you shouldn't have too much trouble keeping up with the class. At the end of the semester, all of your exercises go into a portfolio worth 30% of your grade (so it's really important). The two tests are worth 20% apiece but she grades fairly and she gives a good explanation for the midterm on what you need to work on to do better for the final. The book is not really necessary unless you need to look at examples for rhetorical exercises. I suggest sharing with a friend if you can. On the last day, we gave a speech immitating a famous/favorite person. Overall, a good class!

Under any other teacher, I suspect this class would have been hell. Megan is a very sweet person who you can tell is really passionate about what she teaches. She incorporates YouTube into her lectures to try and show examples of the different theories and that helps a lot. Her powerpoint slides are posted online but they're mostly shorthand, so the book is crucial when you go back to study. She completely changed her testing format after the first test because the highest grade was a 76. It got a little easier after that.
The class consists of three tests (no cumulative exam) and two 2-3 page papers. All in all, I would definitely recommend taking Megan for Comm Theory.
