As we rapidly approach the season of wedding bells and terrible DJs, it is important to rummage through your closet to see if you have anything worth wearing to witness someone else’s hopeful eternal happiness and love become sealed and signed. Obviously you want to look good for all of the hot single groomsmen, but you also don’t want to outshine the bride (which in all likelihood won’t happen).

So what are some good ideas to wear for weddings this spring and summer? Well I’ll tell you one thing: it isn’t white. Everyone should know that wearing white to a wedding other than your own is a crime; in fact it should be a punishable crime. But it isn’t just younger women who have been guilty of this audacious act–I’ve seen older women do it as well. Perhaps they’re just ignorant; I’d like to think no woman would do that on purpose.

First things first, you need to know what kind of wedding it is. What is the location? Is it indoors or outdoors? Is it themed? On a beach? This should be the main deciding factor after you get it out of your head not to wear something completely white. If it is country themed I wouldn’t suggest wearing an expensive floor-length gown and on the other side, don’t wear your cowboy boots to a black-tie affair.

Another aspect that would be a good idea to consider is how much dancing and drinking you plan on participating in. If you think you’ll get a tad bit intoxicated and dance the night away with all your girlfriends, then that tight body-con dress probably should stay home so no one gets a show they shouldn’t get. However, if you really believe you won’t end up on the dance floor by the end of the night or have more than a couple of drinks, then by all means do your sexy thing.

There are some great colors that are popular for this season, just make sure you wear something compatible with your skin tone. Go for colors like navy blue, shades of pink, grays, aqua and coral. Check out wedding sites like Elegant Wedding Invites to be in the know about this season’s colors. Try to stay away from the classic black. Go for something fun and bright, patterns–mix it up and have fun.

When it comes to accessories, keep with the theme but don’t go overboard. It is important to balance your entire outfit out, to not be too “top heavy” or too bland. Keep in mind if you’re wearing a pattern or a solid, as well as how you will be styling your hair. Picking out the right accessories can be difficult, so check out this article for help.

Ahh, shoes. What woman doesn’t love a beautiful pair of shoes? Be fun with the shoes you wear to a wedding; wear a fun color or bold print. Keep in mind to wear a heel that you know you will look sensible in and be comfortable in for hours. Again, this is all about balance and finding a shoe that will compliment your overall look. This article is really great to find the heels that are best suited for you.

Finally, when it comes to your makeup, be wary. Don’t waltz in looking like a train wreck; keep it simple, classic and beautiful. Don’t hide all of your great features with caked on foundation. Use the makeup to enhance what you already have and make yourself feel confident and beautiful.

Finding something to wear to a wedding can seem like a terrible daunting task, but it can also be fun. As long as you don’t show up as “that one girl who wore white” you’re sure to shine, in the crowd-like way you should at a wedding. The most important thing about being at the wedding is to have fun and wish the couple well (besides bringing the best gift). So dress to have fun and celebrate your favorite couple.
